Elliot May

Elliot May is an educator, performer, conductor, and co-owner of Metropolitan Area Youth Symphony (MAYS).

As the son of music educators Jonathan and Maureen May, Elliot grew up immersed in music education from an early age. Through years of participation in youth orchestras, camps, rehearsals, and performances, he developed a lifelong passion for music and a deep appreciation for the impact that strong music programs can have on students and communities.

Elliot earned a degree in Music from Rollins College and has dedicated his career to both music education and performance. He currently teaches elementary music at Bentley Elementary School in Sanford, Florida, where he helps students develop musical skills, creativity, and confidence through engaging classroom instruction.

In addition to his work as an educator, Elliot is an active performer and entrepreneur. He owns and operates Anthology Entertainment, providing live music and entertainment services throughout Central Florida. His primary instruments are double bass and cello, and he enjoys sharing his love of music with audiences and students of all ages.

Throughout his career, Elliot has gained extensive experience in youth orchestra, ensemble leadership, conducting, and music instruction. As a passionate strings educator, he believes music provides students with valuable opportunities for personal growth, creativity, discipline, and community.

Today, Elliot continues to support the mission of MAYS as a co-owner and advocate for music education, helping carry forward the educational values and legacy that inspired the organization’s founding.
